LIBR 318 Library Research and Information Literacy 1 Unit
Prerequisite: None.
Advisory: ENGWR 100 (College Writing) and ENGRD 310 (Prose Analysis and Interpretation); or ESLW 320 (Advanced-Low Writing) and ESLR 320 (Intermediate High Reading) with grades of "C" or better; or placement through the assessment process. Basic familiarity with computers is recommended for this course.

Description: This course will help students acquire the information competency skills necessary for success in their academic studies, in the workplace, and in their personal lives in the contemporary environment of rapid technological change and proliferating information resources. It provides a step-by-step guide to the research process that is applicable to term papers, course work, personal interest and life-long learning. It emphasizes developing effective search strategies, selecting information tools, locating and retrieving information sources, analyzing and critically evaluating information, organizing and using information. This course may be taken twice for credit based on significant changes in online and print resources.
