Description: This beginning course in conversational Mandarin emphasizes the development of oral language skills essential for understanding and speaking elementary Mandarin useful for everyday communication.

Description: This beginning course in Mandarin Chinese emphasizes pronunciation drill, sentence pattern analysis, and the development of language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Character reading and writing are introduced. The students will also gain a better understanding of Chinese culture through the study of its language.

Prerequisite: MAND 401 with a grade of "C" or better or two years of high school Mandarin.

Hours: 72 hours LEC
Description: This course is the continuation of MAND 401. Further acquisition of language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing will be emphasized. Additional character reading and writing skills will be developed. Students will gain proficiency in understanding and speaking Mandarin in everyday situations. Students will also gain a better understanding of Chinese culture through the study of its language.
