Description: This is a study of Western Civilization from pre-historic times to the Renaissance. The focus of the course will be on the history of Europe, including a general account of those political, economic, and social institutions as well as the cultural and intellectual forces that help explain our present day civilization. The course includes the general study of the nature of history, prehistorical culture, the Ancient Near East, Greece, Rome, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
