1.0 Drug and Alcohol Testing of Drivers Holding Commercial Driver's Licenses
1.1 The Board of Trustees, commits to the adoption, implementation, and enforcement of Omnibus Transportation Employees Testing Act of 1991, which requires the District to establish a drug and alcohol testing program for all employees who perform services requiring the possession of a commercial driver's license, specifically, bus driver/maintenance helpers, transportation supervisors, ground maintenance technicians and equipment mechanics II (collectively, covered employees).
1.2 Pre-employment drug testing shall be required for covered employees. Post-accident, random, reasonable suspicion and return to duty/follow-up drug and alcohol testing shall be required for covered employees.
1.3 The Chancellor shall develop administrative regulations which adhere to the U.S. Department of Transportation rules and regulations for drug and alcohol testing.
1.4 Violation of this policy or related regulations will be grounds for employee discipline.
