1.0 Candidates' Statements in Trustee Elections
1.1 The District will not pay the cost of candidates' statements or other materials sent to voters of the District. (Election Code § 10012)
1.2 This policy shall be delivered to the appropriate elections officer in ample time for such officer to notify each candidate of the Board's position before the nominating period opens.
1.3 The Los Rios Board authorizes the Chancellor to estimate the total cost of printing, handling, translating and mailing of candidate's statements and to require each candidate filing a statement to pay in advance to the District a pro rata share as a condition to having each candidate's statement included in the voter's pamphlet.
2.0 Selection in Case of Tie Vote (Education Code § 5016)
2.1 If a tie vote makes it impossible to determine which of two or more candidates has been elected to the governing board, the county superintendent of schools having jurisdiction shall so certify to the governing board.
2.2 The Board shall make a determination of who is the winner by lot.
2.3 The candidates who have received the tie votes shall be notified to appear before the Board, either in person or by a representative at a time and place designated by the Board, and the determination by lot shall be made at that time.
