1.0 Programs and Services for Students with Disabilities
The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) in conjunction with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 prohibits entities from excluding individuals from jobs, services, activities or benefits based upon disability. The intent of the ADA is to dispel stereotypes and assumptions about disabilities and ensure equal opportunity and encourage full participation for persons with disabilities.
In compliance with these regulations, the Los Rios Community College District has implemented an Office of Programs and Services for Students with Disabilities at each of the District's colleges to coordinate the provision of appropriate academic adjustments to students eligible for services. Eligibility for program participation is determined in accordance with guidelines established through the ADA, Section 504 and Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations.
