1.0 Purpose
1.1 The Los Rios Community College District intends to maintain good relations with all segments of the community it serves and to provide opportunities for effective communication between the District and the community. This responsibility is shared equally by everyone working within the District. All staff are encouraged to participate in community, civic and professional organizations; to seek opportunities to speak before such organizations; to provide accurate information to interested community members about the colleges and programs of the District; and to encourage input from the community.
1.2 Community Relations Objectives:
1.2.1 To obtain and maintain community support for the colleges and their programs.
1.2.2 To help ensure satisfactory enrollment levels at the colleges.1.2.3 To provide the public timely and accurate information about the programs, activities and policies of the colleges and the District.
1.2.4 To keep college personnel aware of the changing educational needs of the community.
1.2.5 To maintain and strengthen working relationships with other educational institutions.
1.2.6 To maintain a favorable relationship with governmental entities.
1.2.7 To encourage public use of the colleges as centers of educational and cultural activity.
1.2.8 To involve the community in college programs and activities.1.2.9 To involve the community in decisions relating to significant construction or expansion of District facilities.
1.3 Community Input
1.3.1 The District may, where appropriate, cause to be formed an advisory group(s) consisting of members of the community. An advisory group may be formed at the direction of the Board of Trustees or the Chancellor. The size and composition of any advisory group will vary depending upon the purpose of the group.
