Folsom Lake College
  • Medical Laboratory Technician Program:  As a new college, Folsom Lake College is developing its Allied Health program to keep pace with the rapidly growing student population. Presently, Allied Health is aligned within the Life Sciences department and the Career Technical Education area at the college. The Medical Lab Technician (MLT) degree is under development through fall 2010 and the college intends to offer MLT courses once approved by the state and regional accrediting agency.    Following are adjunct faculty positions within this program that the college is currently recruiting for:

    • Medical Laboratory Technology Adjunct Faculty - This position is adjunct faculty and will be assigned to teach Medical Laboratory Technician degree courses. The adjunct faculty teaching position is anticipated to begin upon first day of instruction of the spring 2011 academic semester, and will include lecture and lab classes in the discipline, and may include day, evening, and weekend classes, and contact with area healthcare facilities for the clinical portion of the new program.   • Mechanical - Electrical Technology (MET)  Experience & Educational Requirements:  Recent work experience in the design, installation, repair and maintenance of residential, commercial and industrial HVAC (Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning) and Refrigeration systems. Knowledge of chillers, boilers, furnaces, package air conditioning equipment, chilled and hot water systems, steam heating systems, commercial and industrial refrigeration systems, instrumentation and controls.   • Multimedia/Photojournalism - The Journalism Instructor’s primary responsibility is to teach Photojournalism, Multimedia and college multimedia publication courses. These classes may be offered in a distance education format. The instructor will use a learning and student-centered approach to assist in curriculum development and growth to meet the current and future needs of a rapidly changing professional environment. A strong candidate should also possess strong interpersonal and communications skills, as well as the ability to work independently and in a team. The instructor will be responsible for staying current with Multimedia Photojournalism practices and applications including Software, Audio, Video and Photographic Principles. Teaching assignment may include day, evening, and weekend classes, on and off campus in both Hybrid and In-person modalities. A strong candidate should also have:  Extensive knowledge of Multimedia Photojournalism theories and practices and be able to utilize current industry standard multimedia photography applications in a classroom setting, as well as be prepared to advise student multimedia publications.
