Description: This course reviews and extends the concepts of elementary algebra with problem solving skills emphasized throughout. Topics which are reviewed and extended include: linear and quadratic equations, factoring polynomials, rational expressions, exponents, radicals, equations of lines, and systems of equations. New topics include: absolute value equations and inequalities, rational exponents, translations and reflections of graphs, function notation and function operations, exponential and logarithmic functions, graphs of quadratic and simple polynomial functions, quadratic inequalities, non-linear systems of equations, and an introduction to conic sections.

Description: This course is designed to introduce students to the spirit of mathematics by involving them in the mathematical process of exploration, conjecture, and proof. Students will explore mathematical patterns and relations, formulate conjectures, and prove their conjectures. Description: This is a full trigonometry course with algebra concepts reviewed, extended, and integrated when they are relevant to the trigonometric concepts. The trigonometric topics include right triangle trigonometry, unit circle trigonometry, graphs of trigonometric functions, proofs of trigonometric identities, solving trigonometric equations, applications of trigonometric functions (law of sines and cosines), and inverse trigonometric functions. The algebra topics include exponential and logarithmic functions, complex numbers, conic sections, the polar coordinate system, and solving equations, inequalities, and systems of equations.
