ADAPT 330 Adapted Weight Training and Fitness 1 Unit
Prerequisite: None
Course Transferable to UC/CSU
Hours: 54 hours LAB
Description: In adapted weight training, the instructor works under the recommendation and direction of the student's physician to develop a weight training program designed to enhance the student's ability to perform activities of daily living, as well as, assist the student in attaining his or her fitness goals. Programs will be individualized and students will be encouraged to perform at a challenging, yet safe level. Students can expect to improve their muscular fitness, while gaining self esteem, confidence, and greater independence. Students must be registered with the campus DSP&S program and provide a physician's statement indicating: 1) the disability, 2) specific restrictions, and 3) recommended activities.
