This 1 unit class meets at EDC for lecture on September 4 and 11, with a field trip on September 12-14. There are only 12 hours of lecture and 18 hours of lab. This course meets on two Thursday evenings (9/4 and 9/11) from 6:00-8:40 PM. We will leave for our field trip at approximately 10AM on Friday, September 12th. Students will be released at approximately 3 PM on Sunday, September 14th. Plan to spend the weekend hiking and studying the natural history and stunning alpine beauty of the Tioga Pass and Tuolumne Meadows regions of Yosemite. Students should be prepared for moderate day hikes (approximately 3-6 miles, round-trip) at elevations ranging from 8,000 to 10,000 feet. Students will be responsible for their own transportation and food during the field seminar. Car pools arrangements can be made by students during first lecture. (Instructor cannot facilitate car pool due to liability). A limited amount of space (~5-6 passengers) will be available in the instructor's van on a first-come, first-served basis. Accommodations in the Yosemite region are difficult to find and are generally expensive. The instructor has blocked out hotel rooms for both nights. Camping is another option for those who do not want to stay in a hotel room. Accommodations will be discussed at first meeting.
