Description: This is a study of Western Civilization from pre-historic times to the Renaissance. Description: This course is a survey of the history of California with an emphasis on the evolution of the state as a multicultural society, beginning with Native Californian cultures prior to contact with Europeans and continuing to the present. Description: This course is an introduction to the study of American history from 1865 to the present day. It is a seminar-style honors course that uses an intensive instructional methodology that is designed to challenge motivated students and cultivate advanced critical thinking skills. Particular emphasis will be placed on the role played by the complex interrelationships of political, economic, social, and cultural forces in United States history after World War II, and role played by multiple ethnic groups as well. This course is not open to students who have completed HIST 311.
