Description: The Step Aerobics class is a physical education course designed to improve an individual's level of fitness, general appearance, and well being. This course will concentrate on cardio-respiratory fitness, flexibility, muscular strength and endurance, resting and training heart rates, injury prevention, and weight management through step aerobics. This will be achieved through a variety of exercises using hand weights to strengthen upper body, abdominal exercises and various step routines.

Instructors are present to assist students in meeting their exercise goals and course requirements each open lab hour. Fitness 371 Requirements
ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO:
1) Purchase the Life Fitness Center manual and lanyard (ID card holder) at the college bookstore.
2) Students who have not taken Fitness 371 before must complete a mandatory program orientation. Students must have the Life Fitness Center Manual and Student Identification Card for the orientation!
3) All continuing Fitness 371 students (students who have taken Fitness 371 prior) will be asked to review and update their enrollment forms (Forms 1 & 2).
4) Have a valid Sacramento City College student identification card before using the Life Fitness Center for exercise.
5) Have a towel (either personal or purchased at the Campus bookstore) before being allowed entrance into the Life Fitness Center.

Description: This course is an open-entry/open-exit course designed to provide instruction in proper training techniques for increasing muscular strength and endurance, utilizing plate-loaded apparatus, free weights, selectorized weight machines, and Olympic lifting techniques. A required orientation includes an individualized fitness assessment, learning guidelines on accessing fitness, training, and wellness information on-line, and discussing how to train safely and efficiently using state-of-the-art equipment. This course is graded Pass/No Pass. Students may enroll in the class up to the fourth week of the semester.

Description: The purpose of this course is to teach intermediate swimmers, who have mastered basic water acclimation, water safety, and basic swimming skills, swim training protocols and design, further refinement of stroke technique, proper diving technique, and development of cardiovascular capacity. Students will learn and refine the stroke techniques of freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke. Students will learn flip turns for freestyle and backstroke. Students will be introduced to swim training and workout design.
