ART 300    Elementary Drawing and Composition    3 Units

Description: This course covers the fundamentals of drawing emphasizing the use of line, shape, value, perspective, space, and composition. It introduces and uses various media and techniques for drawing. This is a foundation requirement for all art students. Students will need to purchase art materials and tools. This course may be taken twice for credit.

ART 430    Art and Children    3 Units

Description: This is an exploratory course in children's art; dealing with the three aspects of art: seeing and feeling visual relationships, producing works of art, and knowing and understanding art objects. Students will select art as it relates to the child's growth and development. This course is suggested for recreational leadership, preschool, K-12 teachers, and caregivers.

Description: Designed to give students an opportunity to study topics not included in current course offerings. May be taken four times for credit, providing there is no duplication of topics.

This 2-unit course examines Japanese Raku pottery and the aesthetics of Tea Ceremony pottery. Artist, potter, and Professor Brian Hayes will teach this unique class, which introduces students to the focus and format of a professional pottery studio. The course will run for 2 weeks, Monday through Thursday, June 15-June 25, for a total of 8 days. The first 7 class meetings will occur at the El Dorado Center in room C105. The final class meeting will occur at the instructor's studio at Gold Hill, where students will fire their work in the Raku style. Questions can be directed to Professor Brian Hayes at 530-622-7307.
