TAP 300    Modern Rehearsal and Performance I    1-3 Units

Modern Performance and Technical Production
Prerequisite: None.
Enrollment Limitation: Students must audition and/or interview with the director to participate in this course.

Description: This course is the first level of four courses in the rehearsal and performance of modern theatre. It provides workshop training for students performing in their first modern theatre production. Students audition or interview with the director for participation in a modern drama or comedy. Field trips may be required. (C-ID THTR 191)

This variable unit class is for prospective actors and requires an audition prior to enrollment. Students may sign up for 1.0 or 3.0 units. Please contact the instructor. The Falcon's Eye closes its eighth season with Caryl Churchill's groundbreaking satire Cloud Nine. During a Victorian-era Christmas, Clive and his family of English ex-pats in Africa host an explorer and a widow seeking refuge from a hostile tribe. The visitors set off a rash of secret dalliances in the house, with partners varying in age, sexual orientation and social position. In the second act, set in Thatcher-era London, the characters all reappear. They've aged only 25 years, and the actors have switched roles in more ways than one. This Obie-winning comedy has been called "a testament to self-acceptance."


Audition Dates: February 2, 2015, 6:30 pm, PAC-1170 Drama Lab.


Rehearsal Dates: February 9 through April 16, 2015. Rehearsal times might include weekdays, weeknights, and/or weekends.



Performance Dates: April 16 through May 3, 2015. Performance calendar will include weekend days and nights.



This class has 2.2 - 13 hours TBA per week, depending upon the number of units taken. All TBA hours will be held in room PAC 1170.

TAP 310    Modern Technical Production I    1-3 Units

Modern Performance and Technical Production
Prerequisite: None.
Enrollment Limitation: Students must interview with the technical director to participate in this course. Interviews should be scheduled during the first two weeks of the semester.
Course Transferable to UC/CSU
Hours: 162 hours LAB
Description: This course is the first level of four courses which provide a workshop training experience for students working in their first position on the production crew of a modern theatre production. Students interested in technical work interview for positions in stage management, crewing, set construction, costumes and makeup, lighting and sound, box office and publicity. Students will gain practical experience in applying production responsibilities in any of the following: stage management, house management, construction, scenery, scenic painting, properties, costume, lighting, sound, video/projections, and running crews.
