Description: This course provides an introduction to early childhood education, including an overview of the history of the field, evolution of professional practices and ethics, educational principles that support child development from birth through the school-age years, and teaching practices based on observation, documentation, and interpretation of children┐┐┐s behavior. Description: This course will examine the physical, cognitive, social and emotional development of the child from the prenatal period through adolescence. Scientific findings from a range of disciplines will inform an integrated examination of theory and practice during the childhood years. This course is designed to fulfill General Education, Early Childhood Education and Psychology degree requirements. This course is not open to those who have previously taken PSYC 372.
