SGVT 300    Introduction to Student Government    2 Units

Description: This course provides a study of the legal, educational and philosophical basis of student government. The course may include travel to other campuses, local, regional and state conferences and provide the opportunity to participate on faculty and administrative committees. There may be minimal to no cost to the student for these field trips. Topics are designed to teach leadership skills and to give practical experience in the social and civic responsibilities of student government. The course may be taken three times for credit with returning students (that successfully complete the initial course) focusing on advanced theoretical concepts and levels of planning, facilitation, leadership roles and mentoring while participating in student government.
