ART 300    Drawing and Composition I    3 Units

Prerequisite: None.
Advisory: Eligible for ENGRD 310 or ENGRD 312 AND ENGWR 300; OR ESLR 340 AND ESLW 340.

Description: This course introduces observational drawing and composition. Development of the ability to perceive and define shape, contour, volume, space, and value using a variety of drawing media and subject matter is emphasized. It focuses on the clarity of observational skills and the ability to translate three-dimensional form and space into two-dimensional drawings. Field trips may be required. (C-ID ARTS 110)

ART 302    Drawing and Composition II    3 Units

Prerequisite: ART 300 with a grade of "C" or better

Description: This course further develops the skills and concepts introduced in ART 300. It covers the relationships between formal elements such as line, shape, color, texture, value, perspective, and spatial relationships. It emphasizes the creative use of materials. It also includes critiques of student, historical, and contemporary works of art. Field trips may be required. (C-ID ARTS 205)
