STAT 300    Introduction to Probability and Statistics    4 Units

Prerequisite: MATH 120, 125, 129, or 133 with a grade of "C" or better, or placement through the assessment process.

Hours: 72 hours LEC
Description: This course is an introduction to probability and statistics. Topics include elementary principles and applications of descriptive statistics, counting principles, elementary probability principles, probability distributions, estimation of parameters, hypothesis testing, linear regression and correlation, and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Applications use data from various disciplines including business, social sciences, psychology, life and health sciences, and education. Statistical analysis using a computer statistics package or graphing calculator is required. (C-ID MATH 110; Competency: Mathematics)

Online homework required. This class is fully online with the exception of 3 mandatory onsite tests scheduled on 6/17, 7/1, and 7/29. All testing will be done on the ARC Main Campus. Students must have access to an Internet connection. Online work is completed through D2L and a publisher's website. Students MUST complete the online Orientation and all activities assigned in the orientation by Monday June 6th 12pm or they must attend the in-person orientation on Monday June 6th at 12pm. Enrolled students will be dropped for non-participation at 12pm on Monday June 6th to make space for waitlist students who have completed the orientation. The Instructor will email all enrolled and waitlisted students with the Orientation information by Thursday, May 26th to their Los Rios Gmail account. The instructor must add students in order of the waitlist - all students hoping to add should continue to try and obtain a spot on the waitlist.

Students must have access to an Internet connection. Online work is completed through a publisher's website, Pearson's MyMathLab. (This class does not use D2L) Students MUST complete the online Orientation in advance (BEFORE June 13th) or attend the Mandatory Course Orientation on Monday, June 13, 2016. Instructor will email all enrolled and waitlisted student the time and location of the orientation about 1 week ahead of time to their Los Rios Gmail account.
