Description: This course provides essential basic training components for all structural firefighters to operate as members of a Rapid Intervention Crew. Topics include identifying causes of firefighter injuries and fatalities at structure fires, describing and preventing common fire ground errors that have caused injuries or fatalities, demonstrating self-survival knowledge and techniques, demonstrating and applying firefighter rescue and self-survival techniques. Description: This course provides the knowledge and skills necessary to manage prescribed fire. Topics include how to recognize basic fire regimes, the effects of fire treatments on first order fire effects, and how to manipulate fire treatments to achieve desired first order fire effects. This course discusses the ecological and historical role of fire, characteristics of smoke, health safety issues and visibility impacts of smoke.
