The mission of the Financial Success Learning Community is to introduce the concepts of personal finance with life and career planning to enrolled students. You will be enrolled in two classes and will receive credit and a grad for each individual course listed in the Learning Community.

This Learning Community is designed for students who desire an integrated approach to college reading and writing. The reading material will be used to generate ideas for writing. 19858 Above Learning Communities: Puente Project - (ENGWR 101 & ENGWR 94, D212) Proficient Writing and HCD 111, College Discovery (6 Units)
This Learning Community is designed to support educationally underrepresented students in the process of transfer to universities. Puente builds a community of motivated college students by providing English writing instruction in a contextual environment. The English composition course features Latino/a literature; the Human Career Development class is a review of opportunities and resources relevant to student success at American River College. 19863 Above Learning Communities - Umoja-Sakhu (8 units)
ENGWR 101 (MW 10:30 AM-12:35 PM, D220) ENGWR 94 (W 12:45-1:35 PM, D212), and HCD 310. This learning community is open to all students and is designed to enhance the cultural and educational experiences of community college students, particularly those who identify themselves as African American. It includes academic support, intensive counseling follow-up, mentoring and field trips. To sign up, students must attend one of the following informational meetings to receive a permission number: April 21st 5-6pm; May 19th 1-2pm. Meetings are held in the Student Center Meeting Room 1.
