ESL 97    ESL Center: Integrated Topics in ESL    .25-1 Units

Prerequisite: ESLL 20, ESLR 20, or ESLW 20 with a grade of "C" or better; or placement through the assessment process.
Hours: 54 hours LAB
Description: This course enables English as a Second Language students placed at the novice-high through intermediate-high levels to develop, expand, and reinforce multiple English language skills while working independently and/or in small groups. Coursework includes integrated study topics relative to vocabulary and study skills, reading and grammar use, idiomatic language study and application, and assorted integrated software programs. Students may earn .25 of a unit of credit for every 13.5 hours of work. Late registration is allowed as long as space is available and with the permission of the instructor. This course may be taken four times for credit covering different modules. Pass/No Pass Only.

NOTE: Meets in the ESL Center in the Learning Resource Center. Students may enroll in any open section. Late registration is allowed through November 10, 2011, as long as space is available and with permission of the Center coordinator. Hours of attendance are flexible and will be arranged around each student's individual schedule. The ESL Center is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m to 7:10 p.m., and on Friday from 9:00 a.m.-1:05 p.m.

NOTE: Natomas Lab Hours: Monday -Thursday 10:45AM- 12:50PM . Students may enroll and attend any open section between the hours of 10:45am-12:50pm. Because of the limited hours of operation, students should not enroll in more than a total of 2 units in all ESL97 courses combined.
